Let's see what the Bible says, Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.
Worship is a lifestyle we live to God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Worship is not just a Sunday thing and then the rest of the week we live however we want. Worship is an everyday thing. In every aspect of our lives, we are to glorify God.
"So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Expressions of Worship
Singing, dancing, clapping, playing instruments, speaking words, kneeling before God, lifting hands in surrender, and shouting, all these are expressions of worship to God. I'm sure all of you, if not, most of you are familiar with these expressions of worship.
These expressions of worship can turn heaviness into lightness. Let me explain what I mean by that. Many times when I feel so burdened and like the weight of the world is on my shoulders I sing to God in worship and sometimes I even dance to Him. That's when no one is watching of course because I'm a horrible dancer. But by worshipping God through these two expressions I do feel the weight just lift off my shoulders and feel the lightness of the presence of the Holy Spirit upon me.
I was going through a period of depression and I felt like I couldn't take it anymore. I remembered going into a room, no one was around and I fell to my knees and I started to worship and pour out before God. Tears started to flow like a river. When I got off my knees I felt so good. There was no more depression. That's the power of worship!
You might be going through a difficult time right now but I encourage you to lock off everything and go into a room by yourself and start worshipping God. Let it just be between you and God. Whether it's through singing, dancing, or playing an instrument, in whatever way it may be do it. It doesn't matter if your voice is horrible or you're a horrible dancer. Once it's coming from your heart that's all that matters.
When we express our worship to God the atmosphere changes, heaviness flees and the presence of God takes over.
When you worship God in the midst of whatever you are going through, you are magnifying God and saying, "God, you are bigger than what I'm going through right now."
Whether you are going through something or not, worship God because He deserves our worship. Worship is not about getting something from God but it's about us fixing our eyes on Him acknowledging that He is God and He alone deserves all the worship and praise and giving Him our everything. Jesus gave His everything for us on that rugged cross. It's only fear that we give Him our everything. Let's live for Him, living a lifestyle of worship and expressing our gratitude to Him through the expression of worship. He deserves us to give Him our everything.
God bless you all always in Jesus Christ our savior.
